For the first time in club history the Cubs are off to the Senior AAA championship vs the Sherwood Park Athletics to determine who will head to Nationals next year in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The entire Cubs vs Tigers series was a battle and game 3 was no different.
Tony Olson got the start on the mound in a must win game 3. He allowed three hits and three runs with two being earned over five innings, striking out eight.
Ethan Elias took over with a tie game in the 6th. He helped his own cause by leading off the bottom half with a roped single. In a big at bat Clay Davis came through in the clutch singling on a 1-2 count, scoring Elias to take the lead. Olson followed with a huge double to score Davis and seal the series.
Elias earned the victory on the hill. He lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking zero.
Tom Leathem took the loss for St. Albert Tigers. He lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out six.
Chappel, Scammel, Meiklejohn, Murphy, Davis, Olson, and Elias each managed a hit in the contest.
Cubs will square off next week in a best of 5 vs the A's. Stay tuned for game dates/times.
