The Edmonton Cubs finally broke the 6 year winless playoff curse with a 2-1 victory over St. Albert Tuesday night.
Taylor Thomas (5-1) got the nod in the series opener after a dominant regular season with a 1.20 ERA.
Cubs got on the board in the second inning when Clay Davis drew a walk, scoring one run.
Bo Meiklejohn had a big RBI in the 3rd inning scoring Cory Scammell which was all the offense the Cubs needed Tuesday evening.
Taylor Thomas was the winning pitcher for the Cubs. He surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Ethan Elias threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Elias recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Cubs.
Cubs look to close out the series Wednesday night on the road with Jarvis Greiner getting the nod for game 2.
